The Great Give Back began as a local service initiative by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association, Suffolk Cooperative Library System, and Nassau Library System. Over the past six years, The Great Give Back has spread to libraries and library systems across New York State.
In October 2022, the OWWL Library System sponsored a system-wide Great Give Back project collecting supplies to support local classrooms and students. A total of 34 OWWL Libraries participated.
