One Book, OWWL Kids is a community reading program for children and caregivers across Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, and Livingston Counties.
This spring, we will be sharing Free to Be Elephant Me by Giles Andreae. Watch Krystina (Victor Farmington Library) and Sarah (Wadsworth Library) make the official announcement:
2023 One Book
“It’s time for the Elephant Games! Every young elephant parades their talent in front of the king to earn their special elephant name. But Num-Num doesn’t have a special skill to display. With a little help from some familiar friends, will this little elephant learn that being yourself is the most important talent of them all? Free to be Elephant Me is perfect for family sharing and for teaching young readers about the importance of being yourself.” —Scholastic

One Book, OWWL Kids highlights the importance of sharing books in early literacy development. Reading together develops vocabulary and comprehension, nurtures a love for reading, and can strengthen family and community bonds. This program is sponsored by OWWL Library System Coordinated Outreach Services. The materials were created by Krystina Dippel (Victor Farmington Library) and Sarah Matthews (Wadsworth Library).
